LIMELIGHT (DVD)

Intro : As in Chaplin’s scores to City Lights and Modern Times, the heroine’s presence is often accompanied by the same musical theme. “Terry” is the ballet dancer in Limelight whom Chaplin’s character Calvero saves from suicide and then helps to an international dancing career.
　

この映画はいろいろな意味で見応えがあります。
今までチャップリンは独特のメイクをしていたが、この作品で初めて素顔を見せています。
　

最後に「ライムライト」の中の台詞・・・。
「人生を恐れてはいけない。
人生に必要な物は勇気と想像力と、ほんの少しのお金だ。」
"Life can be wonderful if you’re not afraid of it.
All it takes is courage, imagination…and a little dough."

なんていい言葉なんでしょう。
人生の途中で迷ったとき、落ち込んだとき、この言葉を思い出すと元気が出てきます。
この映画のヒロイン、テリーのように、「私にはできない、ダメだ」と思い込んでしまう事は多いですよね。
でも、勇気を持って生きていればきっと、きっと・・・。

ETERNALLY永遠に (テリーのテーマ)
この曲をチャップリンが作曲したのですが知っていましたか？
本当にチャップリンって多才な人だったんですよね。
制作、監督、脚本、主演、作曲・・・・等々ひとり５役、６役もやっていたんです。
